enlarged thyroid
Question:
My Dr. tells me that I have an enlarged thyroid. I do not feel any of the symptoms associated with thyroid problems. The blood tests all show normal thyroid levels. She still wants me see an endocrynologist (sp?). Does anyone have any experience with this? I don’t like to take drugs and would like to find the proper diet for my thyroid. Thanks in advance.

You may be low on iodine, but I would not fool around with this unless I had a firm diagnosis. Or you may be eating too many goitrogens (cabbage, etc). Prevention and Wellness Clinic 291 Aurora Ave., St. Paul, MN 55103 (612) 222 3171 Chiropractic, Nutrition and Herbology…….Services and Products.

There are several reasons why you may have an enlarged thyroid and yet show no clinical symptoms. You could have an early case of a thyroid dysfunction where your thyroid can still function well enough to seem to be working just fine. For example, there is a condition referred to as thyrotoxicosis which is initially heralded by some thyroid tenderness, then has a rapid onset of fatigue, weight gain, etc. Another disorder, referred to as myxedema, has a slow, insidious onset. It is nice to be able to identify any disorder early. Once the disorder passes into fully recognizable symptoms, it may be too late to cure the disease. Early treatment leads to much more effective cures, especially in a slow onset illness. Enjoy! Omegaman

Go to the endocrinologist, but if the diagnosis is short of an emergency, do yourself a favor and seek out a qualified traditional healer (preferably East-Asian Traditional Medicine). Just killing the thyroid, or some such mania, is a sad result. – "Our bones are lightning in the night of flesh." -OP
